Heated Garden Rooms with Insulation

One of the main advantages of installing a garden room rather than a shed or another traditional timber-based structure is heating and insulation. Fokus Garden Rooms are pre-insulated and allow for a range of discrete heating options enabling no compromise when it comes to practical solutions, aesthetic and year round usage.

How can I heat my garden room?

You can heat your garden room in a number of ways including fan heaters, log burners and more. Our preferred method of heating is infrared. Let’s take a look at what infrared heating is, and the benefits of this system over alternative options.

What is infrared heating?

Infrared heating is radiated heat and it is the most basic form of heating known to man. This is mostly due to the fact that It is the same type of heat that we emit from our own bodies. However we experience it during day to day life too. Just think of times when you have felt the feeling of warmth from the sun on your face or the heat from a coal fire. What’s more, we have been using it for thousands of years. Cavemen used it to heat themselves by the fire, whilst the Romans used infrared heating in their hypocausts. We have been favouring it for millennia because it embodies the same process as the sun in our surrounding environment. It heats them and they radiate back this heat to keep the environment around us warm.

What are the advantages of infrared heating?

When it comes to heating a garden room, using infrared heating has many advantages. Firstly, using infrared heating ensures there are low harmful emissions as they heat clean. Secondly, infrared heaters ensure there is thermal comfort as they heat the floor zone and not the ceiling. Heat is thus stored within ambient objects that improves the comfort levels within the entire space. Thirdly, infrared heating improves indoor air quality as the heaters do not rely on air currents to transfer heat. Infrared heating is 100% safe and natural for our bodies, and our well-being, as the human body is designed to accept and emit infrared. The feeling of warmth from infrared is particularly comfortable which means using a Fokus garden as a workspace or a gym is a pleasant experience. It is UV that is harmful, not infrared, and so there is no need to worry. What’s more, infrared heating is eco-friendly and cost effective. The systems are built into either the floor, walls or ceiling. As such they are neither visible nor take up any space.

What measures can I take for an eco-friendly heated garden room with electricity?

The good news is that when it comes to heated garden rooms, infrared is a more eco-friendly alternative due in to its low emission nature. This means that it is quicker to heat a garden room too as it runs from mains electricity. This is an opportunity to make this more eco-friendly by opting to use electricity that is solar-powered. In addition to this, all our clients can enjoy their garden rooms pre-insulated. This means that they retain a cost-effective cost whilst also being environmentally friendly.

Can I have a log burner in my garden room?

Unlike most alternative garden rooms, Fokus rooms are made from building grade A1 fire-rated materials meaning that we can install a log burner into your room. Not only is this a benefit when it comes to heating a garden room, but it also can visually improve the look and feel of your space, making it seem more homely and cosy, even when you are not using it.
